To discuss the energetic, or non physical aspect of healing has always been controversial because it is by nature largely subjective and therefore outside the bounds of scientific research. However, the last forty years have seen more and more clinical scientific research done on the relationship between the individual's energetic/emotional experiences and the effects they have on the immune system, the endocrine system, and health in general, partly because of the increased sensitivity of the measuring devices used to measure the effects. Colorpuncture works on both the body and mind in ways that are today more easily explained by solid scientific research.

One such source of scientific data is Dr. James Oschman, an authority on energy and complementary medicine, published in many scientific journals with a career in academic science. Oschman joined the discussion of Body/Mind Healing with his book Energy Medicine (© 2000 Churchill Livingstone). In the book Oschman pulls together empirical scientific data which explains what happens when therapists use energetic healing methods such as Colorpuncture (Colorpuncture is mentioned several times in the book).
Oschman writes,
Colorpuncture is one of the vibrational therapies which affects the dynamic systems within the body/mind, providing an input towards the release of trauma and movement back towards health and wholeness. Oschman talks about the "life force," or chi, the Chinese word for life force used in the martial arts of tai chi, chi gong, and others. One of his main theses in the book is that this life force is not something static, which is either present or not in the body, but which is malleable, and is the basis for the energetic exchange which is what healing is all about. It has been identified, quantified, and measured in various different therapeutic situations. (More on the scientific basis of Colorpuncture in the Articles section.)
